The Intel GMA 950 graphics chip produced a score of 112 on our 3DMark06 benchmark, which measures graphics performance. This mark was a little higher than the netbook average of 99, but a 720p video clip of Fighter Pilot downloaded from the WMV HD Content Showcase played smoothly. If you want to be able to play 1080p videos or mainstream games, look toward the HP(HP NC4000 Battery) Mini 311; thanks to Nvidia’s Ion graphics, that system scored 1,386 on 3DMark06.
If what we've seen of Microsoft's Courier is legit, it too presents an opportunity to use computers in a new way -- though a total rethink of the primary consumer OS obviously presents more danger and risk to Microsoft. It's in Apple(APPLE MB771G/A Battery)'s best interest to get everyone to buy a new machine with a new operating metaphor, while a world where people can get 95% of everything done without Windows (the other 5% involves editing Excel spreadsheets) makes Microsoft surprisingly less vital to the consumer.
The HP(HP dv3000 Battery) Mini 311 features a very spacious keyboard. It has everything that you’d expect from a full laptop keyboard. The style of the keys lend themselves to large footprints, but this comes at the cost of feedback. What I generally say about this type of keyboard is that it is great for people who look at the keyboard as they type, but for those of us that type without looking, it can be less desirable than a keyboard where one can feel more easily around the keys.
But, Apple(M6392 Battery)'s path to a great success is blocked by products from companies with substantial revenue and massive distribution channels. The Amazon (AMZN) Kindle will continue to be the market leader in e-readers for some time. It is priced at $250, so the Apple tablet may have trouble taking much share from Amazon.

This normally will not illuminate unless you are receiving an incoming call or you wish to view the time. When you open up the handset, the internal 2.2" TFT screen is revealed. This screen shows a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and supports up to 16 million colours.
The demo unit Dell(Dell 312-0455 Battery) sent me has a shiny white plastic case and a black interior finish with a textured pattern printed on the palm rest and other areas surrounding the keyboard. The cover is surprisingly adept at not showing fingerprints. I’m not sure if this is due to the color or the finish. The laptop is also available with red, blue, pink, green, purple, or black lids.
As one of the top executives that oversaw Apple's original Newton PDA in Europe, Haas is in a unique position to comment on Apple(Apple Laptop Batteries)'s internal processes as well as the tablet market at large. PCMag.com's Mark Hachman spoke with Haas late last week for his impressions on what Apple will announce, its tablet strategy, and what the company should have learned from the Newton. The tablet is likely to be a second computer for most people. As such, it will be competing against netbooks, which typically cost around $350. Apple(Apple 661-2395 Battery)'s tablet may be niftier than the average netbook, but that's not going to matter to a lot of consumers if it costs more than twice as much. It may be a pipe dream, but I'd like to see Apple price the tablet at $500 _ or less.
This is the first laptop that I have seen with an HDMI input capable adapter. It comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate edition, a fingerprint scanner, and an Intel Centrino duo processor running at 2.40 GHz (4mb L2 cache). This "laptop" is actually a new class of computers called "Desktop Replacements". While it does have a battery it is purely for UPS purposes and will not last more than 1 hour. It gets very warm underneath at times and should be placed on a laptop tray or on a table rather than your lap.
